4 Things Men Are Most Insecure About

There are a lot of things written about the unreasonable expectations that society places on women. These are all absolutely relevant and important. Everything from the insistence on being thin to the obsession with their body hair, society puts huge amounts of pressure on women to change the way that they look. However, women aren’t the only people to face these kinds of pressure. There are plenty of things that society insists that men do in order to conform to its expectations. Here are some of the things that men are the most insecure about.

1. Lack of muscle

Look, not every guy is going to be able to look like Ryan Gosling or Chris Evans. These are men who undergo seriously intense training routines in order to look the way they do. And yet many men are constantly feeling insecure about the fact that they don’t have the incredible six-packs that they see on the silver screen or in magazines. Because of this a lot of guys feel the need to hide under baggy clothes and rarely go shirtless, no matter what. There are plenty of things that you can do to build muscle. However, it’s likely to take a fair amount of time, patience, and commitment. Lifting weights is one of the best things that you can do in order to convert fat into muscle as efficiently as possible. Of course, that doesn’t mean that a guy has to be a certain shape in order to be desirable. Just look at Chris Pratt!

2. Man boobs

Man boobs, or “moobs” are probably the thing that the vast majority of men are worried about. For one thing, man boobs are much harder to hide than many other things. Not only that but they come with a lot of assumptions about lifestyle and masculinity. Many men feel like they are somehow lacking some important aspect of their masculinity when they have the kind of soft, almost feminine shape that comes with man boobs. Of course, it’s also important to remember that everyone is a different shape and there’s nothing wrong with looking a certain way, even if you don’t fit society’s expectations of how a man should look.

3. Hair loss

When it comes to ageing, there’s one thing that most men fear more than anything. Many of them would much rather go completely grey than lose their hair. Once many men reach a certain age, they start checking their reflection every single day, just in case their hair has started to become thinner. There are a few ways to deal with hair loss. There are medicated shampoos that can help; you can get out ahead of it and shave your head; you could even have a hair transplant. Of course, whatever you do, make sure to steer clear of Toupées and combovers. They always make things look even worse than they did before, no exceptions!

4. “Endowment”

This is the big one if you’ll pardon the phrase. Just about every man on earth has been faced with the fear that they’re not going to be able to “measure up” in the bedroom. Because of things like online pornography and a lack of decent sex education, most men have no idea what does or doesn’t constitute “average size.” Because of this a lot of men develop rather serious complexes about their size that can have a long-lasting impact on their relationships. Sadly, there isn’t much you can do to change what you were born with. There are plenty of pills and potions that are advertised to do just that, but they are almost always fake. Of course, if you were to ask around, the vast majority of women are likely to say that it’s not what you’ve got, it’s how you use it.

Men deal with many of the same insecurities as women a lot of the time. The difference is that men are often much more reluctant to actually talk about it. The idea of being exposed and confronting the things that they’re insecure about can be incredibly difficult for a lot of men. The best way to change things is not just to change your own body, but to change the way that we talk about people’s bodies as a society. People should be able to embrace their appearances no matter what they look like. Every size, shape, and colour should be celebrated and accepted no matter what!
