Guys, Tips On Surviving Wedding Planning!

Congratulations, you’re engaged! You have found a girl you love enough to spend the rest of your life with. And you managed to get through the down right scary proposal. But believe us, nothing is scarier than the next step. After all, wedding planning can be one of the most stressful experiences of your life. And while some couples get through it easily, it can send some grooms and brides to be spiraling apart. After all, your beloved finance can turn into the bride to be from hell. However, it’s best to try and remember the whole point of the wedding. And hopefully, you can turn the wedding planning from stressful to pleasant. Therefore, here are some tips for guys on surviving wedding planning!

Plan a low-key day

A lot of couples go wrong with their wedding by trying to plan the biggest do possible. And instead of being a beautiful affair, it can turn into a stressful nightmare to plan. After all, the more things that you have for the big day, the more providers you will have to keep in touch with. And it can mean endless phone calls and emails for the run-up to the big day. By the end of the 18 months of wedding planning, it can tend to feel a relief. And this is a shame, as hopefully, you will only marry once, so it should be a joyous occasion. Therefore, to ensure the planning isn’t stressful, you should make the sure the wedding is a low-key affair. Stick to a few activities for the evening. And then let the rest of the day be spontaneous. After all, you want your wedding day to be trouble-free to ensure you and your new wife have a day to remember. And as it says in our previous blog, special doesn’t mean a massive do. In fact, your wedding might be extra special if it’s low-key and intimate!

Limit the number of guests

It’s easy for the number of guests coming to your wedding to spiral out of control. After all, you and your bride to be might write lists of people who you want to come to the wedding. And it can be hard to miss out certain people who you would quite like for the big day. So then it can end up with you both having a long list of people you would like to come to the wedding. And once both sets of parents have added people too, it can make for hundreds of people at your wedding. But for one thing, it can become very expensive if you have tons of people at your big day. After all, you will have to pay out for a costly wedding breakfast for them which will leave you feeling the pinch. And not only this, but the more people you have, the more stressful it will become as you have to try and arrange favors and meals for everyone. Therefore, sit down with your partner and make a list of day guests, evening guests, and reserves. That way, you can cut your list down to ensure your big day doesn’t become a stressful event. And once you have made those lists, stick to your guns and don’t let anyone else sneak onto the main day list. Going for a smaller number has a ton of benefits anyway. For one thing, you can hunt down nicer invites like wedding stationery from Paper Themes. After all, you will have less to pay out for. And with fewer people, you can spend more on other parts of the day!

Don’t involve other people

Wedding planning ultimately should be about you and your partner. After all, it’s your one special day that you will always remember. However, it’s easy for other people to end up getting involved in the wedding planning process. For example, your mother might want to give her views on certain aspects of the day. Or your mother-in-law might also take over the wedding planning process. And while it’s a big day for them too, you need to ensure that they don’t become too involved. Not only will this stress out your other half, but it can make it for an unbearable experience. Therefore, thank any family or friends who are helping out, but say that the two of you ultimately will make decisions. That way, they will back off without feeling like they have intruded on your special day.

Set a financial budget

Money is another thing which can end up causing stress when it comes to wedding planning. With the average wedding costing around $20,000 dollars, it’s no wonder stress rears its ugly head during wedding planning. Everything from the dress to the venue can cost a small fortune. And as the bill gets higher and higher, it can leave the pair of you rowing about money. To ensure money doesn’t end up tearing you apart when it comes to wedding planning, you need to set a budget at the start. Decide how much you can afford to spend on the big day. Take into account money from family too, so you have an overall total. And then you can work out how you are going to spread the cost. That way, you know how much you can spend on each thing. And if it does start going over when planning, you can make cuts to ensure you stay in budget! That way, there will be no shock bills at the end which will leave you in debt.

As guys, we need to understand that getting married is something our other half dreams about since they are a little girl. Therefore, it’s easy for them to go a bit wedding obsessed when it comes to the big day. While it’s important to let them do as they please for the big day, you also need to be there for them when things get stressful. After all, you can be a calming presence who reminds them what the wedding is all about. And if you stick together, you will definitely both survive the perils of wedding planning!
