How Long Do You Spend Trying To Find ” The Perfect Selfie “

Everyone loves seeing an image of themselves to the extent that taking a selfie has almost become an obsession in present day society.  Some people get dressed up with no place to go, only to take the perfect selfie and hope it is good enough for others to see.  We take our selfies then delete the ones that show our flaws and save the ones that we believe portray a beautiful image of ourselves.  In other words “The Perfect Selfie.”

After this we will post them for all the world to see on instagram, facebook and twitter.  But have you ever thought about the selfie that’s not shown to the world.  I’m talking about the selfie of the inner man which we choose to keep hidden from the others.  The “Inner Man Selfie” reveals pride, greed, jealousy, anger, envy, hatred, lust and so many other evil ways that mankind possesses.  If the truth be told, the inner selfie and the outer selfie don’t always line up with each other  and something is wrong with that picture.

The selfie that we often hide is hidden from others but not from God who is able to search the hearts and know what each one of us is all about.  Be careful not to judge a person by their outward appearance because you might be getting a snapshot of the perfect selfie and not the real person.  Instead look at things from Gods perspective.

In I Samuel 16:7 the prophet Samuel made a mistake when he went on an assignment from God to choose the second king of Israel.  He looked at the outward appearance of men and tried to choose a man that looked kingly in his eyes.  However, God rejected his choice and told him…man looks on the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.  God who is omniscient (all knowing) knew that the man Samuel was trying to choose didn’t have the heart of a king even though his outer appearance looked good enough to take the perfect selfie.

In 2017 continue to keep the outer man that the world sees polished and looking good because the world constantly judges our appearance.  However, work twice as hard to grow the inner person in an attempt to eliminate all the evil, ungodly ways that this flesh produces.  These ways are not pleasing in the sight of God.  Psalms 119:9 ask the question, How shall a young man cleanse his way? (A) By taking heed (paying attention) to the word of God.  Believe in the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to teach you the word and God will produce the “Perfect Selfie” from the inside out.  Smile and Be Blessed!
