Officers exchange gunfire with the attacker of Dallas Police Department early this morning.
SWAT snipers shot at the suspect through the windshield of his van after a standoff with him, Police Chief David Brown said. But because officers found bags with explosives that had been “spread out all over police headquarters,” police were not approaching the van, he said.
One bag was found under a dumpster and another beneath a truck in the police headquarters parking lot, Dallas police tweeted.
Officers gave chase and followed the van to the parking lot of a Jack In The Box in Hutchins, about 12 miles south of the city, where they later “disabled” the van.
