11/11 was a lucky night for the Cosign Media Group as they hosted the FIRST Cosign Awards Dinner & Gala. This Curls and Hennessy sponsored event benefited Generation Esperanza, a nonprofit organization founded with the intent to give hope to children in Panama.
The Founder of COSIGN Magazine and native Panamanian, K.G Graham, organized an event that was dedicated to celebrating the top influencers, talent, professionals, and millennials in the city. The event started with a mix and mingle atmosphere as patrons could interact and purchase from various vendors, some of which, were nominees and award winners of the night. The red carpet was simply beautiful as women adorned stunning gowns and the fellas stepped out in some of their best suits. After dinner over the awesome live band, the fun began.
Reporting the greatness that was the COSIGN Awards was not my sole reason for attending. I went because our very own Editor- In- Chief was nominated AND AWARDED Public Figure Of The Year. This award was accepted by his sister, Camille Gilmore, on his behalf. Gilmore is a public figure personified and I can guarantee, if you have ever engulfed yourself in Dallas Culture, you have heard the name Marcus Gilmore. We are all proud of you! So next year, do not hesitate to get your tickets early to this sold out event. Think about it, if it sold out in its first year…what type of numbers do you think COSIGN will pull next year? The awards kicked off with key influencers announcing their fellow peers as nominees and then announcing the overall winner. Dallas did not spare on the jokes, shoutouts, and turnt up award speeches. Most notably, the award speech, or should I say turn up, of Producer of the Year Winner J.White Did It. He was introduced by his longtime friend and Dallas DJ Great, DJ ASAP. In true ASAP fashion, he held his cup high and tipped his hat to his partner, who he stated, “has created a lot of great music with me, yet has remained the same humble guy.” Instead of the usual speech, J White simply said play my song. The room went from Awards Gala, to a Bodak Yellow session. J White showed appreciation for this award because producers are often forgotten once the song takes flight. He also assured us that more hits are on the way, and I cannot wait to see what he has in store. Local Dallas Talent performed and DeeJay Mike B held down the 1’s and 2’s, providing the perfect ambiance and segway into each award. One of the most notable moments was the amount of support and appreciation for K.G Graham. Although he is the COSIGN king, it was amazing to see a roomful of influencers COSIGNING him.
