I woke up Sunday morning and discovered the electricity wasn’t working. I know what you’re probably thinking, but yes, I had paid the bill. I realized this problem was beyond my control, so I continued through the morning preparing for Sunday services and I discovered I am a creature of habit. Even though I knew the power was out, for some strange reason I still plugged my electric razor in and hit the switch. A short time later I picked up the remote and hit the button but got nothing. A few minutes passed by and out of habit I glanced at the clock that I always look at but it was blank. It began to warm up in the house and I remembered that the A/C unit required electricity. I went to the bathroom and I unconsciously flipped the switch, no lights, but I managed. At this point I began to laugh, because nothing seemed to work and there was nothing I could do about it. Eventually I got dressed for church, entered my garage, hit the garage door opener and the door didn’t move. Oh yeah, the opener for the door requires electricity too.
The inconveniences of this morning has reminded me how spoiled I am, how much I take for granted but most of all how dependent I am on my Heavenly Father for everything. I would really be in trouble without the daily provisions and blessings of God. He gives us air to breathe, light to see, food for our bodies, a roof over our head, physical health and strength to make it through the day, a brain that works the majority of the time and He’s even given man the knowledge to understand electricity and so much more. I’m blessed with things that are seen and unseen.
Even though Sunday morning started out a little shaky, I’m going to be mindful of the bountiful blessings God has given me. If you ever have a day that doesn’t go according to plan, try focusing on what’s going right instead of what’s going wrong. Life has a way of working itself out.
The Psalmist said in 118:24, “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
If your electricity is off like mine, remember the One who has ALL POWER and Praise Him because He is worthy!!
