Another Great Sports Weekend in the Books – U.S Women’s Team Win World Cup

[Dallas, TX – July 6th]

To cap off the holiday weekend the U.S Women’s Soccer team took on the Japan Women’s Soccer team in a World Cup Final.

The game quickly took a turn as the the U.S went up early . Carli Lloyd scored three goals to lead the United States to a 5-2 victory over Japan for the team’s record third World Cup title — and first since 1999.

Lloyd’s hat trick came in the match’s first 16 minutes. When it was over, the captain of the U.S. team collapsed to her knees and pumped her fists. A sellout crowd of 53,341 that included U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. The United States has won its third Women’s World Cup title and first since 1999 with a 5-2 victory over Japan.
