After news of an upcoming TDE release, Kendrick Lamar has released an ironically titled project: untitled unmastered. The nameless EP randomly appeared on Spotify earlier this evening and includes 8 “title-less” tracks. Two of the untitled tracks were heard during Lamar’s performances on The Colbert Report and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Although the track listing includes no information regarding features, K.dot enlisted multiple familiar voices to help give life to his musical vision. SZA, CeeLo and Jay Rock add their unique flair to the Compton rappers 10th project and although there’s no confirmation a voice extremely similar to Prince appears on the end of “untitled 3”. Kendrick also provided an early start for Swiss Beats and Alicia Keys 5-year old son Egypt who produced the second half of “untitled 7”.
Kendrick’s eclectic sound is captured perfectly in this jazz, g-funk and hip-hop infused body of work. As expected, Lamar manages to mesh lyrical substance with euphonious sound. Check it out iTunes. untitled unmastered is also available on Tidal and Spotify.
