While “Elevated” happens to be the name of rapper Wiz Khalifa’s new video, premiering exclusively here on Vogue.com today, it could easily describe the natty MC’s quick ascent in the fashion world ranks in recent months. Having dominated the red carpet this past awards season with his signature insouciant cool, the “KK” singer outshone plenty of men’s style vets as he executed croppedThom Browne tuxes, Rat Pack–esque Armani suiting, Gucci fur slippers, and sinuous custom silk shirting with natural aplomb.
As the video draws to a close, raw footage from Wiz’s early days plays to a piano solo, referencing the 28-year-old’s career start as well as his style roots
Wiz told Vogue that the video is meant to showcase his individuality.
“It was about showing a little bit of my skills, that I’m in a class by myself,” he explained. “It was my look times whatever situation we were in. So you have me going to dinner; you have me in my car; you have me chilling. We just wanted to bring that out but still look comfortable, so it doesn’t look like I’m doing too much.”
