LIVE EVENTS ARE SAVING OUR CULTURE, ONE MILLENNIAL AT A TIME
ATTEND A CONCERT, SAVE A LIFE. Ok, not really but, according to a recent study conducted by EventBrite in partnership with research agency Crowd DNA, “4 out of 5 Americans attended a live event, ranging from entertainment-focused experience like music concerts and beer festivals, to more caused-related events like marches and rallies.” Have you checked Ticketmaster lately? From Ed Sheeran to Beyonce’, concerts are selling out within minutes! It’s no wonder, some 78% of millennials are more likely to attend a music festival that features artists who are affecting positive change through their music.
If you’ve been awake more than 5 minutes a day, you’ve noticed that social justice demonstrations have increased from around the globe. The common denominator is our thriving experience economy. “Seventy percent of American men and women agree that attending a live event has been more successful at expanding their perspective than just reading about a topic online.” During this music festival season, you may witness a collective experience of artist expressing their political beliefs in their performance. You should also be prepared to see more VIP packages being available (because 20-somethings like to be exclusive) and more fan curated engagement and interaction.
Millennials aren’t getting younger or slowing down any time soon, so event management companies must be prepared to meet the demand of curating culturally-immersed, interactive experiences. This “experiences over things” generation (aka millennials) is making their mark which demands to connect culture through experiences and contribute to positive change.
