Look around you. What is the biggest social trend of the New Year? Goal setting and resolutions have seemingly been the top two subjects on everyone’s mind. This is a great thing if you are Christen Marie of The Daily Slay. She was able to organize and master a much needed event right in time for the “New Year, New Me” trend. Christen called on the help of slay-nistas who were able to supply their own black girl magic for the event, New Year, New Network 2017.
NYNN focused on bringing together creative individuals in Dallas in all industries imaginable. Christen wanted to connect event goers “with a new face and a new inspiration”. NYNN was hosted in the luxurious Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck in Dallas’s own Reunion Tower on the evening of January 5, 2017. There were a grand total of thirty one young black professionals in the building. If you needed something to assist with your growth, you were destined to find what you needed and more in the room. The diverse span of professionals included photographers, professional makeup artists, culinary artists, hair stylists, bloggers, clothing designers, event planners and business entrepreneurs.
The guests were welcomed with laughs, smiles, and a call to get out of their regular comfort zones to welcome a new network. Guests were given networking cards to encourage conversation and collaboration. Guests were able to be raffled goodies from the event sponsors, including Marbles Beauty, The Dry Bar, and Mini Luxe. Creatives were granted the opportunity to exchange tips, suggestions, and ideas for the future. Light bites were provided by Vanessa of A Cake Maker. The NYNN team definitely had social media buzzing and business cards flying all around the room.
It was extremely refreshing to see the looks of astonishment from management and restaurant goers when they realized the sheer entrepreneurial power of some of Dallas’s young elite creatives. I was able to speak with the event hosts Christen, You Tube influencer, Ashley D of Ashley D Beauty, and You Tube Naturalista Ciara.
When asked what women inspire them to be the successful women they are today, I received an array of responses.
