Keep Pregnancy Infections at Bay With the Candida Diet: What to Eat

Did you know that 20% of women have candida without exhibiting any symptoms?

If you are one of the unlucky 80%, then you will know that candida is no joke! The symptoms can ruin your entire week.

If you are pregnant, then candida may strike at any moment. Unfortunately, you may not want to risk regularly taking medication while you’re carrying a little one.

So, in this article, we’ll look at the candida diet and what you can eat to keep the itchiness at bay! Let’s get started:

  1. Say Goodbye to Sugar

Unfortunately, if your diet is full of yeast, then candida is going to thrive. Sugar helps candida to build cell walls and turn from yeast into fungus.

This means you need to say goodbye to foods that are rich in sugar, including everything from chocolate and cookies to fruit and juices!

You may find it very difficult to cut out sugar completely. Instead, try to reduce how much you eat over a few weeks. By not having any sugar in the house, you can keep those pangs at bay.

  1. White Bread Is a No Go

As you may already know, white bread is packed full of yeast, which you do not want to be eating while on the candida diet!

Switch to yeast-free and gluten-free bread while on this diet. You should choose wholemeal, crispbread, or full-grain bread.

Unfortunately, you’ll need to say goodbye to baked goods while you are on this diet. But, there are many fantastic candida diet-friendly recipes online!

  1. Non-Starchy Vegetables Are Your Best Friends

If you aren’t usually a fan of vegetables, you will be once you realize how quickly they can get rid of candida.

Make sure you pack your shopping cart full of:

  • Brussels sprouts
  • Cabbage
  • Asparagus
  • Kale
  • Broccoli
  • Celery
  • Spinach
  • Tomatoes
  • Cucumber
  • Eggplant

It is very simple to make quick and easy meals with these vegetables. Why not prep in advance a pot of chili or ratatouille?

You could also steam these veggies to eat with quinoa, or try roasting them in a little oil and lots of herbs (which are also great for beating candida!)

  1. Sauerkraut Is a German Delicacy

As well as eating a lot of vegetables, there are a few condiments that you should be adding to your diet too.

For example, sauerkraut and apple cider vinegar! You can simply add sauerkraut to your lunch box.

Meanwhile, you may want to consider adding a few teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to a large glass of water. Consider drinking this before you eat a meal.
