Official ‘Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho’ Album Review

By: Auditory Aura

This album was one of the most anticipated collaborations of 2017. No one knew when it was about to drop, & we got a surprise for the Holiday weekend! 🎄 I was eager to listen, just like everyone else, to see what Cactus Jack & Huncho cooked up. To be completely honest, I was not completely impressed by this album.

It’s unusual because when I listened to the album straight through it was reallyyy easy for me to think I was listening to the same song for 15 minutes, no lie! On the other hand, I went out Friday night & the DJ dropped “Dubai Sh*t” ft. Offset & it went so hard! When heard individually there are a few songs on the album that stand out, but they get lost when played back to back due to Quavo & Travis sounding similar throughout the songs.

Quavo is definitely strongest when he’s with Offset and/or Takeoff, as those 2 songs that they are on are some of my favorites on the album. The last song, “Best Man”……the song just felt extremely random & out of place, really “spacey.”

The artwork is my fave thing about it! I love when hip hop & art collide, very nice work by Ralph Steadman. Overall, it is an okay album. I felt like this was a great concept, but wasn’t thought out entirely about how to switch-up the sound & take it to another level.

Aura’s Picks: “Eye 2 Eye” ft. Takeoff, “Saint”, “Modern Slavery”
