[WATCH] Jay IDK releases visuals for “God Said Trap (King Trappy III)”

Maryland’s Jay IDK recently released the visuals for “God Said Trap (King Trappy III)”, a single from his project SubTrap. The video cleverly opens with a ironic introduction from Ronald Reagan before Jay IDK performs the purposeful track as his alter ego, King Trappy.

When asked about the visual, the rapper told Complex:

“I wanted to give the world a new perspective of the trap. We’re out here killing ourselves, our people. A lot of rappers lie about who and what they are. I’m not a trapper, I’m not a drug king pen. I created this alter ego ‘King Trappy’ (seen in this video) to put everything into perspective.”

Since the release of SubTrap, the DMV rapper’s buzz has been exceptional. During his appearance on Sway In The Morning, Jay explained the concept behind his “conscious trap” project and the Sub Trap genre he’s created.  He also delivered a fire freestyle for Sway’s Friday Fire Cypher.

Peep the Jacob LaGuardia-directed video and check Jay IDK out at this year’s SXSW. He’s scheduled to perform at multiple showcases this year.
