Tory Lanez returned with his Fargo Friday releases and gave us two tracks, “UNFORGETFUL” and “FOR REAL”.
If you’re just now jumping on the Tory Lanez train with his recent success, welcome to the club. If you’ve been a fan, feel free to flex those “I told you so’s”. Regardless of how long you’ve been in his corner, it’s impossible not to notice is commendable approach to showing his versatility. “UNFORGETFUL” embodies his softer side; the Lanez we get with his Chixtape trilogy. While “FOR REAL” speaks to his more street persona. Fargo used this same clever marketing tactic with the double release of Chixtape 3 and The New Toronto.
The London on the Track produced “UNFORGETFUL” is a more mellow track for the ladies. Lanez definitely has a knack for these types of tracks. It also features a sample of Kehlani and Chance the Rapper’s “The Way”
For “FOR REAL”, Tory keeps it in-house with One Umbrella producers Play Picasso and Droc. He is also credited for production on the bass heavy track. Lanez’ signature melodic flow is all over this track and features a dope break down mid-song. A switch in pace may have been necessary to emphasize the rapper/singer/songwriter’s point; he’s applying pressure!
