It seems like at the beginning of every year people make their New Years’ Resolution only to find out before January is over they’ve either fallen off the wagon or flat out quit. Their intentions are good but this flesh seems to take over and people just fail. For instance people say, I’m going to exercise more or I’m going to lose weight. Others say I’m going to eat healthier, stop cursing, quit watching so much T.V. and instead read my bible every day.
We make all these resolutions and promises to ourselves but we don’t always follow through with them. Don’t worry because we’re all guilty of this “Bad Habit” of breaking promises to ourselves. You see, anything you want to do or quit doing begins with that brilliant computer attached to your neck. I’m talking about “The Mind”. Anything we desire to achieve, whether it’s obtaining a goal or quitting a bad habit, must first be dealt with in the mind.
The Apostle Paul said in II Corinthians 10:5b… bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. Success can be achieved when your thought patterns are controlled. You can choose to do right and when evil thoughts arise in the mind, take that thought captive and get rid of it.
I’m not saying it will always be easy but it can be done. So set your goal, taking every thought captive, disregarding the negative while building on those things which are positive and in line with Gods word.
Be blessed and remember Proverbs 3:5-6.
