We are all well aware that we are supposed to live our lives to the full. We here about it all the time, but do we really follow the advice? The truth is, we probably really do live in the here and now, but so much so that we can forget that certain areas of our life requires attention and focus. To help not just with our present, but also for our future. After all, the future pages of your story are yet to be written, but work you do right now can certainly make them great chapters. Which is why I wanted to share with you three areas in your life that should have your focus and full attention. I hope it inspires you to make some changes in the new year.

Eating a healthy and balanced diet

 

Right now you may be regretting eating all the cheese, the deserts and drinking too many glasses of the bubbly stuff, so a diet could be at the forefront of your mind. Like so many people, January can become a time of sacrifice as people embark on crazy diets to lose a few pounds. However, those diest are just not sustainable and many people give up at the first hurdle. One thing you should focus your attention on is a more balanced and healthy diet. Yes cut down on all the bad stuff and increase the amount of fruit and vegetables you eat. Mix that with a decent portion of proteins and carbohydrates and you have a great balanced diet that will help you stay feeling and looking your best.

 

Taking a long hard look at your finances

 

Your finances may have taken a hit these last few weeks, so maybe this year is the time to get them in line and prepare in advance for your bills and spending. It might mean reducing your outgoings as much as you can by changing suppliers for things like energy, insurance and even your mortgage provider. Mortgage brokers can be a real source of information and help when it comes to getting the right deal on one of your biggest expenses each month. You could also reduce your outgoings by being careful with what you spend, for example, your food shopping can be a big expense each week, but meal planning can help you save on those unnecessary food purchases and waste.

 

Your mindset and mental health

 

With too much focus on the here and now, priorities, chores and things we just have to do, we can often forget that we need to take some time out to really take care of ourselves. A positive outlook and thought process can really change the way you approach your life moving forward, and it can really work in your favour. Instead, try and focus on being grateful for what you have in your life. Focusing on the present is key, because thinking too much about things you can’t control like past errors or mistakes can only lead you down a negative spiral of thoughts and outlook. Taking care of your mindset and being positive can be a great step in the right direction to ensuring that you approach every other aspect of your life in the right way.
