Holly Holm shocked the world with a 2nd round KO of Ronda Rousey to take the Women’s Bantamweight title. Holm won by way of a left kick to the head that sent Rousey to the mat 59 seconds into the 2nd round to hand Rousey her first career loss. She is now 10-0 in her MMA career. Rousey drops to 12-1.
An ecstatic Holm jumped around the ring while Rousey stayed on the canvas as she received medical treatment amid the roar of a stunned, record UFC crowd.
Holm, who trains out of Jackson-Winkeljohn in Albuquerque, New Mexico, becomes the second female bantamweight champion in UFC history, halting Rousey’s run of six consecutive title defenses. It is the seventh knockout win of Holm’s MMA career and is her quickest finish.
