In case you didn’t believe it before, it’s official now — Us is a smash hit and it’s only the film’s opening weekend!

The Universal film, which was first predicted to earn $35-40 million in its opening weekend, actually opened with twice that —  a staggering $70 million against its $20 million budget. It is the second-biggest opening of the year behind Captain Marvel, which opened with $153 million.

Other records broken by Jordan Peele’s second feature include the best weekend for an original horror movie, the best weekend for an original R-rated film — and the third-biggest horror film opening ever. Peele’s first film, Get Out, opened with $33 million.
