It’s easy enough to avoid Canada as a vacation destination. It’s right on our doorstep, of course, and many Americans have an opinion of Canada that it is a nice – but dull – place. The truth might surprise you, however. Canada is a lot more exciting than you might think. Here are a few reasons why you should try and fit a trip to Canada in at some point in your life. Let’s take a closer look!
1.French cool
For anyone who can’t quite stretch to a visit to Europe, Canada is the next best thing. Head to Montreal or one of the other French-speaking regions. You will experience that incredible chic and laid back atmosphere that Europe – and France – is famed for. Cafe culture, the arts, festivals galore – Montreal has a lot going for it. Even if you pop over for a quick visit, there is a good chance you will get to experience one of the many festivals that take place. Try the Hotel Le James for a real slice of French-style luxury.
2.The Yukon
If you head up to the north-west region of Canada, you’ll find yourself in some of the most stunning scenery in the world. The Yukon is a magnificent stretch of national park, most of which looks untouched. You can explore by foot, bike, kayak or even a set of skis. There is more in the Yukon than you can possibly see in one visit. Which is why you will keep going back again and again.
3.Entertainment
Forget about what you have heard about Canadians being dull. There is plenty of entertainment on offer if you stick to the southern regions. Nightclubs, museums, theaters and concert halls – there is something for all ages. According to http://www.legalgamblingcanada.com/, there are plenty of casinos, too. A lot of Americans enjoy a flutter or two when they are abroad, and Canadian attitudes to gambling have changed a lot in recent years. Did you say dull? Far from it!
4.Drinking
If you are under the age of 21, then you can’t drink alcohol here in the States. In Canada, however, you can enjoy a drink – or two – at the age of 18 in Quebec, Manitoba and Alberta. Even in other states, you can enjoy a glass of beer or wine at the age of 19. Could Canada be the perfect place for all those university students enjoying a summer vacation after their first years?
5.Chocolate
Eating chocolate is a vastly different experience when you are north of the border. Anyone that has been abroad will know how lame our chocolate is here, and you don’t have to travel too far to find out. According to http://cottagelife.com/canadiana/, t’s just a lot more milky, smooth, and delicious in Canada. However, don’t let the kids try it – or they won’t accept anything else when they get home!
6.Safety
Want to be safe on your vacation? Then heading up north to Canada is going to improve your survival rates. The simple truth is that America’s murder-per-capita rate is five times that of our neighbors. And if anything does happen to you, the Canadian health care system is much better than ours, too.
